NY FASHION WEEK: CATHERINE HOLSTEIN
She's The New Girl, and her clothes rocked.
And sometimes the hype is true.
After more buzz than an electric bed on vibrate (thanks in part to famous friends like Proenza Schouler and Mary Kate Olsen), newbie designer Catherine Holstein debuted a full Fall '08 collection at the Soho Grand Hotel, surrounded by a backdrop of swirls and sunbursts that looked suspiciously like Miro.
We loved: The red wool coat with sharp block lapels; the way the models said "hi" to you as you walked by their pedestals; the stylish party crowd inside.
We'll admit: That styling is half the battle - Holstein's models had great tights, great shoes, great hair, and great attitudes, and that made the closes look a million times better.
Also: Everyone wore huge plastic eyeglasses. Score one for sixth grade geeks!
