This week's Freebie Friday makes being green really easy: We're giving away an iconic 13" Cambridge Satchel in emerald green. Why emerald? We typically push a lot of pink goods around here, but emerald is the Pantone color of the year, plus we're still feeling the residual festiveness from St. Patrick's Day and we figured that "the luck of the Irish" could help one of our readers win a new spring It Bag.
There's an interesting story behind how the
Cambridge Satchel brand reached iconic handbag status in record time--a slot that's usually held by the Balenciagas and Celines of the world. The company was founded in the UK in 2008 by Julie Deane and her mother Freda Thomas as a way for them to make some extra cash on the side. The designs were initially targeted towards school children when an unexpected demand from international fashion bloggers hit, which in turn created a cult following for the brand. They went from making three homemade bags a week to 1,500 in their new factory, not to mention a collaboration with Comme Des Garcons.
The lucky winner will not only win a free satchel, but she'll be able to watch her street style career unfold thanks to her new super bright bag.
