STREET STYLE: SXSW
In Austin, things looked as good as they sounded.
It goes without saying that the music at this year's SXSW was killer--if you don't believe us, just check out our NYLON TV videos shot in Austin, Texas for proof. But we were equally impressed by the outfits worn to the shows.
There were the requisite cowboy boots and dusty hats, of course, But there were other ingenious ways of staying cool in the SXSW heat: blouses knotted into crop tops, oversize sunnies to shade eyes, and cut-offs in just about every denim wash, all on display at the House of Vans at the Mohawk.
But the new location didn't mean that everyone dropped their own personal style cues; Alexa Chung paired her rock'n'roll look with a leopard print coat that is way more New York than Austin, while Charli XCX went from show to show wearing her signature pair of Buffalo platforms.

Hey Nylon, I know you can do a better article than this on sxsw street style--- inspiration was everywhere!! And not just hot messpiration; Alexa looks rad as always, as well as the girl in pic 5. So good job there. :)

Why are almost all of these at the same venue? I'm pretty sure there was fashion at more places than just Mohawk. Seems pretty lazy. I have more fashion pictures from sx on my hipstagram.

I feel the need to defend Austin - we have way better style than what Nylon has chosen to show! Some of these looks are good, but the best we have to offer? Not completely. And blaming it on "the heat"? Except for Saturday, we barely hit 80. Work a little harder, Nylon!

I think you need to come back to Austin for a re-do. I saw much more fashion walking up & down S. Congress. As always, Alexa looks great. How did your photographers not capture the true spirit of SXSW?

So the dirty, un-showered look is a thing? Except for Alexa and the girl in pic 5, this is just the unacceptable dirty-kid "fashion" statement. I'm all about effortless-looking style, but several pics just scream "stinky!" A Nike crop-top, choker, and goth platforms? Gross! Reminds me of a terribly un-cool 90s scene. Try harder, please.
