#TREND: THAT'S A WRAP

#TREND: THAT'S A WRAP

New York Fashion Week goes out with a bang--and a bit of overlapping fabric.

Although today is the final day of New York Fashion Week--and we still have Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs to go--Wednesday always feels like the day when things are wrapping up.

But that became quite literal this year: From Proenza Schouler to Karen Walker, Reed Krakoff to Narciso Rodriguez, some of our favorite shows that came at the end of Fashion Week were all about wrapping things up.

Jackets, dresses, skirts, and tops—if there's fabric, there's a way to overlap it. In some shows, it felt origami inspired (take Elizabeth & James, who continue their nod to the Far East). Others seemed to be taking a page from '70s-era Diane von Furstenberg--including the designer herself, who sent a suede version down her fall '13 runway.

But the overall effect--extra fabric without the bulk--is one that we can all agree on. So on that note, to New York Fashion Week: it's a wrap!
