BEST DRESSED: CRITICS' CHOICE AWARDS

BEST DRESSED: CRITICS' CHOICE AWARDS

White, black, blue--and everything in between on the red carpet.

Just because there are a million different award shows (or, at least, it feels that way) doesn't mean that they're all created equal.

Take yesterday: The morning started with us getting up very, very early to catch the Academy Award nominations announcement, where the big shocker was that Ben Affleck got shut out of the Best Director category. (Related: How could Kathryn Bigelow not be nominated for Zero Dark Thirty?!) But by Thursday night, the Boston boy was back on top, have practically swept the Critics' Choice Awards by winning Best Director and Best Picture for Argo. Lesson learned: These prizes can vary wildly from event to event.

Same goes for clothing. What one actress wears one night has no influence on what she wears the next. For example, we didn't love Jennifer Lawrence's sequined gown at Wednesday's People's Choice Awards ceremony, but she brought it to last night's party (in Prabal Gurung, no less).

Though there are a few trends emerging--judging by all the white worn in the past two days, you'd think there is some killer crazed-bride role that every starlet in town is trying to be cast as--what we liked most about the Critics' Choice Awards is how varied the looks are, from Elle Fanning's adorable-but-cool strapless Chanel number to Amy Adams' up-to-there slit.

See what we mean below--and let us know who you think deserves to be crowned today's Best Dressed. But just for today; because as we know, during awards season there's no telling what will happen when.

I'm not really feeling the belt on JLaw's dress, but she still looks amazing. Marion gets my vote though. She looks effortlessly beautiful, as always.

I'm all about Marion, too. Though I love Elle Fanning for just going there--and always looking both cool and cute. LOVE.

Marion looks stunning, I love how Elle fanning goes there but I'm definitely not feeling kinda makes me want to gag.

I absolutely love Nina Dobrev's dress, she can pull off anything. Along with Amy Adams' sheer hotness and Marion Cotillard's first class entire ensemble, this group is a fashion forward bunch.

I haven't been much into Jennifer Lawrence's dress choices lately and I'm not into this one as well. She's so young and gorgeous, why doesn't she brighten up her look by adding more color? I still remember the Calvin Klein red dress she wore to the Oscars in 2011, she looked amazing in it. I like Amanda's choice even less though, it just doesn't suit her. Anyway, Elle gets my vote, she looks so pretty, chic and fresh in it. Adorable.
