Since the finale episode of
America's Next Top Model Cycle 19 aired a few weeks back, we’ve noticed a severe decrease in our average number of smizes per day.
But thankfully our December issue--featuring the prized shoot with Cycle 19 winner Laura James--hit stands just in time to save the smize from vanishing completely.
And just in case the stunning images of the blonde bombshell frolicking across the beautiful beaches of Jamaica wasn’t enough to revive your inner tooch, check out NYLON Fashion Director Joseph Errico’s first-hand account from the shoot, as well as some never-before-seen looks below!
What was the vibe you were going for with this shoot?I wanted to keep it really bright, and colorful and Jamaican. I made Erickson Beamon a whole big mood board of what I had in mind, and they made all this jewelry based on what I had sent over. All the Erikson Beamon jewelry was all made exclusively for the shoot. It was great. I wanted to make it feel beachy with Rasta colors—just all around really fun, and totally NYLON.
What surprised you the most about the three finalists? These girls were very really willing to do whatever. They were all prepped. They also all wanted to win, so they were super eager and competitive. All three were full game for anything—like, ‘Climb a tree! Hold that dead crab!’—They would do whatever we would tell them. That’s why this show really teaches these girls how to be a better model than most other modeling places do.
What did you like best about working with Laura? She brought a lot life to everything. She fully committed to doing it. Her energy and attitude never waned—and we did a 12-hour shoot! She gave a lot of energy. And her excitement wasn’t phony at all...she was truly excited by it all. She probably had more energy than the other two girls, and honestly, that’s probably why she won.
