THIN IS IN

Meet the Macbook Air.

At Apple, bigger is definitely not better. Weighing in at a mere three pounds, the Macbook Air was unveiled yesterday by being pulled out of an envelope. Despite it’s drastic weight loss, the laptop didn’t lose anything we love about our current Macbooks: In fact, it gained some new features such as multi-touch technology (like the iPhone and iPod touch have), a beautiful backlit LED display, and bite-size ports. Though touted as the “world’s thinnest notebook,” we won’t be seeing it on tabloid covers for its unhealthy habits—it’s actually environmentally friendly! At least someone stuck to their New Year’s resolutions. LAUREN PISHNA

Not even mentioned were facts like, there is no cd/dvd rom in this device and, the battery is built in, so you have to have it recharged by taking it to the apple store. Also, there is only one usb port, and no Ethernet hookup. I'm sure not spending $2,000 plus the price of must needed accessories for something that's only pro is how 'pretty' it is.

I agree with the two comments above, at first glance it seems very impressive - but upon further inspection its a bit of a joke. What kind of feat is it to take out all the useful tools in a laptop and brag that youve just made it the worlds lightest ?! Im sure I could make the words lightest car too if I took out all of the important inner mechanics and just left the frame, maybe with working lights and a battery. thumbs down.
