Sophia Knapp's "Evermore" is one of the prettier songs we've heard in a while; it's an indie lullaby, with the Brooklyn-based musician's voice sweetly delivering lines like "Hey will you take my hand / So you can understand?"
The new music video is fittingly just as gorgeous. Knapp teamed up with filmmaker Antonio Sobral, who shot the entire thing at a artists' residency located on a coffee farm in Sao Joao, Brazil. "An enchanted July," is how the musician puts it, adding, "I was there writing and recording new songs, and made some paintings too. Antonio filmed over the course of a month but it was very candid and experimental; the music video idea didn't come [until] much of it was shot already." Featured in his Super 8 shots are gangs of butterflies, tranquil waterfalls, and Knapp sunbathing on a rock. "Yes, it was crazy! Crazy beautiful," she admits. "There were wild horses moving outside my studio at night, UFOs, and technicolor sunsets."
You don't need to book a trip to experience the magic for yourself; we've got the premiere of the "Evermore" music video. The only thing you should try to do? Watch it while you're, in the words of Knapp, "lounging in bed with a laptop, hopefully with silk sheets and a mountain of pillows. Or at the office when work sucks and a portal to faerie land is called for!" Amen.
