Yes, music industry dreams can come true.
Once upon a time, a band in the middle of nowhere could record a demo, send it to a major label, and actually become famous.
Today, it's more a question of whether you can get the music blogs on your side or release a viral video on YouTube. So consider Urban Cone a throwback band; although the Stockholm five-piece play very of-the-moment fuzzy electro-pop, they actually sent in their demo to record labels--and got signed that way.
The result of that chutzpah (or, alternately, old school faith in the industry--your call) is their debut EP, Our Youth, which comes out on December 4 via Universal. While you wait, we've got the exclusive premiere of "Kings and Queens," a slow-building gem of buzzy synths and echoing vocals. When the band says, "Someday we'll be kings and queens," we really do believe them.
