The phrase "it's not so black and white" does not apply to the spring '13 collections. It seems like most popular color scheme at the shows this year was inspired by New York's official cookie, the "black and white cookie."
We've seen zebra stripes at Erin Fetherston, color block suiting pieces at Creatures of the Wind, some very pretty black lace over white at BCBG, and even the runway itself was black and white at Jason Wu.
The fashion industry seems to be playing a game of "opposite day" over the past few seasons. Pastels were shown for fall, resort looked like it could be pre-fall, and now spring is looking black.
Fashion is breaking it's own rules and since that's been a recurring theme on our site too, we're happy to go along with it. Black and white for spring. So chill out on all of those pretty colors and florals for a little bit. Cool?
Now I'm in the mood for black and white cookies...
