SUN SHOWER

SUN SHOWER

What does the sun smell like?

Naming your perfume after the sun is a pretty easy marketing gimmick for summer, since flowers and citrus notes--the season's signature smells--are primary ingredients in perfumery.

But while some solar scents are the makeup equivalent of Tropicana OJ, many have a real range of "sun" related notes, from from musky jasmine flowers (Jean Paul Gaultier's Classique Summer) to Limoncello and sun-bleached sandalwood (Clean's Summer Linen) to syrupy-sweet fruits (everything made by Escada).

Our favorite literal sun-drench is a light, refreshing, and warmth-invoking scent, like The Body Shop's new line of sun-themed scents: Sun Fresh, Sun Kiss, and our favorite, Sun Glow, a light blend of peony, peach, and lemon.

Below, some other "sunny" favorites. Warning: SPF not included.
