#NYLONFW: KAREN WALKER
Dressing like a boy never looked so girly.
When Karen Walker cited a novel published in 1869 as the inspiration for her Fall 2012 collection, we anticipated seeing statement period attire and corsets.
Luckily, this was a complete misinterpretation.
Loosely influenced by the maritime garb and military uniforms written about in Jules Vern's science fiction classic 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, the range showcased Walker's amazing talent for making tomboy clothes look ultra-feminine.
Reminiscent of the iconic styles of women like Francoise Hardy and Ali MacGraw, the collection boasted everything from cropped fuzzy sweaters and Chelsea boots, to mod-inspired paisley blouses paired with bright red trousers.
Sometimes we really love being wrong.
