#NYLONFW: Y-3

"I've decided I'm going to live in Morocco for one year - do you want to come?"

The good news about a Kasbah-themed fashion show is that there will inevitably be lots of mystical classic rock on the soundtrack.  The bad news is that every Tweet from every fashion insider will reference a magic carpet ride.  (Tag us #guilty on that one...)  But while we'd expect embroidered bells and coffee dust at boho-luxe shows like Matthew Williamson and Roberto Cavalli, we'd never have thought Y-3 would bring sneakers to Casablanca.

That's exactly what happened on their runway (which was indeed covered with Persian carpets).  Among the standouts: striped woolen socks and gloves in colors captured from Moroccan glass lamps, skinny sweatpants and anoraks in shades of hookah smoke, and a glorious leopard print coat with a hood(!!!).

The hair was twisty braids knotted on top of the head like a Princess Leia redux.  And now that we think about it, Tattooine was pretty Saharan...
