Macy's may claim bragging rights to the float versions of Charlie Brown, Sponge Bob, and Hello Kitty in its annual Thanksgiving parade, but now America's oldest department store is adding some high-fashion names to its roster.
For the past several seasons the retailer has enlisted Karl Lagerfeld and Giambattista Valli to design mini-collections for its Impulse line, and this spring it's Doo-Ri Chung's turn. The New York-based designer and CFDA Fashion Fund Winner created a 33-piece capsule that's a wearable, low-key take on her runway favorites.
Taking cues from the streets of New York, Doo.Ri for Impulse stars some art-inspired prints, girlish dresses, and her signature draped fabrics in everything from casual t-shirts to dresses. Given that Macy's has been a Manhattan staple since it first opened its door in 1858, is there really a better way to pay tribute to the city that never sleeps than with cute (affordable!) clothes that don't, either?
