My relatives are those tourists—the ones who, rather than get taken for a 'one-of-a-kind' souvenir, will bring home makeshift mementos, such as vials of sand from beaches off the beaten path. Sandrine Dulon, founder of Paris-based jewelry line Satellite does the same, but being that she's a schooled ethnologist as well (which Wikipedia tells me is a kind of cultural anthropology), I trust she knows better what to pick up. Padparadscha, the brand's debut scent, was a peppery piquant scent named after the rare sapphire of the same moniker. But Dulon has since done a bit more digging, and released four new scents, each inspired by her worldly travels. A turquoise blend, Ipanema captures the crisp aroma of the tropics with notes of freesia, coconut, and tonka bean (!?) while Corrida, a fiery red concoction with lush undertones of black currant and jasmine, is as spirited as the Spanish bullfights that it's named after. The blushing A La Figue! and sun-kissed 40° à l'Ombre (meaning 40° in the shade) are playfully lighter scents, but nonetheless far more fetching than a flask of shoreline.
