We're not saying our August Denim Issue is a trendsetter or anything, but we
have noticed a few beautiful coincidences happening with its release.
Chief among them is a flood of jean-inspired nail polishes, and just like your favorite pairs of cutoffs and flares, they run the gamut from stone-washed to super-dark.
The most recent development in the denim digits category is RGB, the lacquer company created by art school graduates to capture pure pigments. They've teamed with one of our favorite online stores, Need Supply Company, to release a color called "1996." It's to celebrate Need's 15th anniversary, and if you can do math, you'll see why.
Dior's also got a new blue called 607 (alas, not our favorite denim number, 501). It's designed to match the French fashion house's most recent dungarees, and it's quite gorgeous -so gorgeous, in fact, that you'll have to call the Dior boutique now and get your name on a wait list, until it hits stores this Fall.
If you can't wait that long, there's always Maybelline's blue metallic shade "Denim Dash," which is available everywhere, comes in a quick-dry formula, and runs way cheaper than the designer versions.
But if you're a die-hard fan of matching your nails to your outfit, the best option comes from Sally Hansen. The nail wiz has an overlay called Skinny Jeans which looks exactly like grooved cotton denim. It's $10, easy to apply, and kind of genius if you're going for that Desperately Seeking the '80s kind of vibe.
All of the polishes match our August Denim Issue's fashion spreads. We'd say it wasn't planned that way, but whatever, at least cosmically, it
totally was.
