ROLL PLAY

ROLL PLAY

A new palette makes the makeup rules for you.

It's a makeup rule we've all heard:  If you do a bold lipstick, you can't also use major colors on your eyes.  (I mean, you can, but you'll look a lot like Robyn Lively's Teen Witch friends from the '80s...)

But the Malibu Barbie combo of coral lips and blue lids isn't the only one out there, and Urban Decay is set to prove it.  Their latest compact, The Rollergirl Palette, has a bright lip gloss and an equally brave eyeshadow, meant to be worn all at once.  The catch: They're actually the same color - a rich magenta like the one models wore down Yves Saint Laurent's 2010 catwalk.  (Thakoon, Rag & Bone, Cushnie et Ochs, and Joseph Altuzarra did similar shades in their Spring 2011 shows.)

The compact also has a deep brown eye pencil, and three neutral shadow shades, Verve (nude shimmer), Suspect (sparkly, sheer beige), and Darkhorse (plum), to offset the shots of bright pink.

It may be named for the '70s sexpot heroine played by Heather Graham in Boogie Nights, but thanks to the rose-on-rose color play that's crammed in there, the Rollergirl compact is probably the most modern combo on the market right now.  (Plus, you can pay homage to the character while keeping all your clothes on - a good idea for almost every situation where you want to look gorgeous... almost, we said.)
