Marimekko prepares for a mass invasion.
If you look really hard, you can always find Marimekko somewhere in America - an umbrella with flowers all over it, a vintage dress with their famous Finnish prints, a tote bag made from their leftover fabric.
But until now, there hasn't been an American retail chain that stocked tons of Marimekko all over the country. Crate and Barrel will change that this Spring, when they launch permanent Marimekko stores inside their huge home design spaces. Besides tableware, bedspreads, and curtains, they'll carry a selection of clothes, accessories, and fun stuff like cloth-covered journals.
The only bad part about the imminent Marimekko invasion is that you've got to wait three months for it to happen - unless you're in Manhattan, where the shop-inside-a-bigger-shop is already open for business.
