The actress and downtown goddess is NYLON's new cover girl!
September marks our annual TV issue, so it's only fitting one of our favorite CW stars takes the cover: Jessica Szohr, the former model who quickly became a modern American sweetheart, thanks to Gossip Girl and her don't-mess-with-me portrayal of the artsy Brooklyn teenager, Vanessa.
We shot the Wisconsin native in New York City, between taping sessions of the show that launched her career.
On filming at 2 am in a lake for her new movie, Piranhas 3D:
"I was actually like, I’m going to be attacked!"
Fun Fact: Producers originally didn’t want to cast her on Gossip Girl because her straight, shiny hair was too preppy.
“I told my agent, you send every picture of my hair short, curly, black, blonde, I don’t care.”
On whose Gossip Girl clothes she would steal.
“I personally think Jenny has the best wardrobe on the show – it’s kind of grungy, but girly, without being too put together. Blair is too structured and perfect, Serena is always glammed up. Vanessa’s waaaay too much with every color and pattern. It sounds like I’m being negative about them all, but I’m not – I think they all look great. But if I was going to go shopping for [me], I’d head straight into Jenny’s closet.”
On potential Season Four plot lines:
“I keep saying they have to bring in other characters because how many times can six characters date and hook up with each other before it gets real old?”

she´s great :) and mostly I agree with her, especially with the last part about the six characters that date and hook up with each other :D She´s perfect for NYLON because she has this unique charism.

I'm giving this a good rating because the shoot is absolutely gorgeous and Jessica seems like a sweet girl. However, like the usual pattern with NYLON as of late, this wasn't a surprise. Gossip Girl - again? Really, NYLON? It's like your goal is to put every single person from that show on your cover!
Hopefully the next cover choice will surprise me; and not in a Paris Hilton kind of way.

Why r sooo many people hatin Szohr just because she's talented and charismatic and beautiful and REAL and deserves every right to be on the cover unlike some people(Momsen)!! So what, she's not a damn "zombie" or an untalented chain-smoker or fake as acrylic nails! The girl is on the cover and there is nothin u can do about it!! Ha how r those apples!

She's a pretty girl, but that shoot does nothing for her. I'm not sure if it's the lighting or something else, but I'm sure they could have done a better job. She's right about them needing to introduce new characters though, it might well make the series run longer. Of course at some point it could put her out of a job too, when her salary gets too high and the network decide to save money by phasing out the less necessary characters. It's happened on other shows already.

glad to see her on the cover :) she is pretty in the exotic way. and is down to earth! and she is hands down the prettiest girl from the GG cast. notice they always downplay her looks/outfits to let blake or leighton (who i also adore) shine? just an observation...
but glad to see her on the cover..she is underrated!
and NO to taylor momsen! (my least fave from GG) don't want to see the raccoon eyes and her bratty "rebel" ungrateful attitude anywhere! :)

I think you've successfully had every gossip girl on your cover. taylor did nylon japan, didnt she?
the styling was pretty sany, but it was different, i liked it. I only really know Jessica Szohr from GG, but I've never really seen or read many interviews with her.Not quite so sure why she was special enough for the cover...would've loved to have seen Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who's in Scott Pilgrim, which looks like a really quality film.

I think she is pretty popular in Hollywood...well because she was on the cover of TeenVogue and now she is on the cover of Nylon. TayMomsen and Leighton and Blake may be more popular than her but for me her popularity isnt that bad.

ehhh I agree with others that she's a little irrelevant at this time. Defo should have put Taylor Momsen on the cover. And pretty bad choice of clothes, I'm sorry. Probably had her input right, since she likes a bit of "grunge"?
