BAND CRUSH: TAMARYN

BAND CRUSH: TAMARYN

Embrace the summer haze with this San Francisco rock couple.

Imagine a heavy metal band playing surf rock - underwater.  That's the kind of trippy, jagged sound coming from Tamaryn, San Francisco duo that pairs the singer (Tamaryn) with her producer and guitarist, Rex John Shelverton.

The result is mellow, earthy, and funked up - a sound illustrated with slow-motion sprinklers and barely lit candles in their music video, "Return to Surrender."

I like this. Her voice reminds me of Chan Marshall's.

Sounds like something that would have made it on the show "Charmed" and I like it!

Deep voice like Caroline Polachek's, only decidedly less smooth/more grating. Feels like a slightly 90s, definitely female version of The Smiths' "Bigmouth Strikes Again".
