KISS AND PASTEL

KISS AND PASTEL

Why the freak out over Revlon's new lacquers?

You can never tell what the next "hot" nail polish will be - unless of course, you're Karl Lagerfeld, who successfully started frenzies for black, jade green, and brownish purple, thanks to his Chanel runway manicures.

But the early buzz for Revlon's new "suede" collection indicates it's heading for Sold Out territory - especially since each bottle costs about $4, as opposed to Chanel's $30 price tag.

Though the collection won't hit major drugstores for another two weeks, hardcore beauty bloggers have already scored a few bottles of the pastel shades - lilac, beige, aqua, and buttery yellow - and proclaimed them "amazing."

Our theory as to why?  Because now that Hard Candy is owned by Walmart, they don't make their cult pastel shades, as seen on '90s movie starlets like Alicia Silverstone and Winona Ryder.  And although Essie, OPI, and (yes) Chanel do dip their fingernails in the pastel pool, they're more expensive and less accessible than a pack of Revlon polish.

Oh, also?  These colors are shiny, happy, and easy to wear.  And you can never underestimate the importance of summer fun.

I CANNOT wait to try them out! I'm a proud owner of black, jade green, and the FANTASTIC brownish purple. It's actually my favorite out of all I own. This looks amazing! ....maybe one of them will move to first place.

To be honest though I'm partial to almost any shade of green, Revlon nail polish looks great for about an hour, but then it chips like crazy. And for $10 a pop in Australia I just don't think it's worth it.

I bought the grey suede. It's ok, I guess. It's more tan than it is grey, so it's kind of similar to my skin tone, just lighter. I was underwhelmed. I'd like to try the minted color, for sure.

I love the mint color! I'm pretty sure I saw one of the characters on pretty little liars wearing the mint color last episode and I was wondering where I could get it until now!

That mint shade came out almost over a year ago.. MAC did it with Peppermint patty and so has OPI. Pastels don't get me too excited anymore.

I've owned minted for a few weeks now and I haven't taken it off yet. I love it more than creepy children in 1980s horror movies.

These colors have been out for a few months. Pastels aren't really my taste, and these are *very* light/white-ish. I was interested in Minted, but ended up buying Nicole's Peas & Q's instead.

I'm confused, didn't American Apparel have these colors over a year ago?! Get with the times Revlon.

As noted by others, these colors have been out for a while. On top of that, I've been on light colored nail polish as long as I can remember. So, I like light colors, but other brands make better colors and quality, so I'm not too excited by these. I would recommend to others, to get other brands.
