KISS AND PASTEL
Why the freak out over Revlon's new lacquers?
-
You can never tell what the next "hot" nail polish will be - unless of course, you're Karl Lagerfeld, who successfully started frenzies for black, jade green, and brownish purple, thanks to his Chanel runway manicures.
But the early buzz for Revlon's new "suede" collection indicates it's heading for Sold Out territory - especially since each bottle costs about $4, as opposed to Chanel's $30 price tag.
Though the collection won't hit major drugstores for another two weeks, hardcore beauty bloggers have already scored a few bottles of the pastel shades - lilac, beige, aqua, and buttery yellow - and proclaimed them "amazing."
Our theory as to why? Because now that Hard Candy is owned by Walmart, they don't make their cult pastel shades, as seen on '90s movie starlets like Alicia Silverstone and Winona Ryder. And although Essie, OPI, and (yes) Chanel do dip their fingernails in the pastel pool, they're more expensive and less accessible than a pack of Revlon polish.
Oh, also? These colors are shiny, happy, and easy to wear. And you can never underestimate the importance of summer fun.
