Once upon a time (think summer camp, circa 1994), there was ZINKA, a neon sunscreen you put on your nose, your cheeks, and maybe - if you had an artistic friend who liked to draw hearts and stars with her fingers - your back and shoulders. Originally invented to protect Australian surfers from the sun's harsh reflection in the ocean, the product took off because it was essentially Day Glo Face Paint.
And now, it's back.
This year, ZINKA squirts out their colors (ten in all) with full force. They've seeded them - again - to Aussie surfers, but also to style junkies and cute girls along the beach. The result, we predict, is a full-on revival, in the vein of
90210 reruns and floral Doc Martens.
The good news is, Zinka is still primarily a heavy-duty sunscreen, which means besides looking zany on the beach, you'll also be protecting your skin from a nasty sunburn - which is one vivid color you
don't want to see on your beach body.
