STOP GLOSS

STOP GLOSS

At home haircare steps further into salon territory.

If you're used to dyeing at a salon, you know the drill:

Wash the hair.
Color the hair.
Dry the hair.
Gloss the hair.

And it's that fourth crucial step that helps with everything - sealing the color inside the hair's cuticle, enhancing shine, taming damage, and adding a silken feel to your locks.

But a good gloss takes time, not to mention more money.  So the trusty women at L'Oreal have invented something new: a gloss you can do at home, whenever you want, in about 30 minutes.

Called L'Oreal Shine Gloss, the product gets applied like at-home-hair-dye, complete with a little brush, a shower cap, and copious (but obvious) instructions.  Go step by step with L'Oreal's pamphlet, and in about 30 minutes, you'll get a thick coat of shine - without leaving your bathroom.  Just think of all the Glee you'll get to catch up on when your salon time gets cut in half...

Glee?! Seriously? Way to stereotype girls who care about their hair into a group of people who enjoy frivolous shows like Glee, covering pop songs and pretending a real high school actually acts like what is protrayed. I'm offended. I like Lost better than Glee, does that make me a boy? No. It makes me a more educated girl that cares about hair care. Good article, bad ending.

This is interesting. I don't watch Glee either but um, who cares. Sarah is on the rag, clearly. ANYWAYS. Do you, Nylon, or any readers, know if this should be used in addition to at-home hair dye and if so, should it go on right after regular hair dye like at the salon? You always portray nice products on here but never any info on real-life use! It would be a great addition to the site/magazine if you unbiasedly detailed your experience with the product rather than just switching a couple words around from the press release and adding some pop culture reference. Just saying!

Um... Sarah...

I don't really think you can take offense the mention of Glee. I'm pretty sure using popular culture to relate to readers is not a stereotypical or offensive move. The only stereotype being thrown around here is by you - Glee is not a program exclusively for girls, neither is Lost a program for boys. You are the only person who has inferred that!

First, this seems like a really cool product, thanks Nylon! I'm definitely gonna have to try it out. And also, so what if I like glee? I think insinuating that Glee is a show for idiotic girls is a little harsh. I love both Glee and Lost? Odd. Glee is an incredibly clever show, it is both well written and funny. Lost, however, is a labyrinth of plot holes and confusion, but is still one of my favourite shows... so i'm not sure what that makes me in the eyes of SARAH. But please, go ahead, push the age old stereotype further. And no offense, but if you're saying something like this, you must not as well educated as you think!

Hey Beth, this gloss actually didn't come with a press release. And we don't write about products unless we test them out first, because otherwise why would we recommend them? xo

Can I quote Sue Sylvester for a moment? "I'm going to put a diaper on your chin, because it looks like a baby's ASS." Sorry, I just wanted to do that. Go Glee! Oh, and that's cool about the gloss.

OMG, Sarah, it doesnt say "go home and watch glee becuase you a girl"... get over yourself. also, i was wondering... can u use clear gloss if u dont color you hair just to give shine? x

Hey Amelia, Sure, but if you've never colored your hair, it's probably shinier than you realize - just add a little Moroccan Oil every day. Cheaper and easier on you!

I totaally agree with the rest of the girls, Sarah don't bunch up your panties! And this is a really good thing that l'oreal released.! ALot of the at home dyes usually wash out and with this, it can help seal in that $ and color! Thanks NYLON.!

Ummm Sarah, please remove that rod from your arse and chill out. I don't know how you can draw a conclusion like that from a small reference to Glee, which by the way is a clever show... You, my friend, are a moron.
