The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Take MAC:
The beauty brand is always at the forefront of cosmetic development, be it with lip markers or Hello Kitty collaborations.
But their latest collection, Pret-A-Papier, takes us back to when we were five. The series, inspired by paper, includes a range of parchment-hued lipsticks, blushes, and polishes. It’s utilitarian-meets-avant garde, perfect for anyone who likes to wear makeup but doesn’t like to look like they’re wearing makeup. But what caught our eye was what comes with it: paper dolls.
MAC got four designers—Cynthia Rowley, Greta Constantine, Zandra Rhodes, and Daniel Vosovic—to submit patterns. Cut them up, put them together, and you’ve got a blue-haired woman walking a chimp or an It Girl rocking a pair of hot pink slashed pants.
Though you can’t purchase the paper dolls, you can pick up your very own set at upcoming Pret-A-Papier in-store events (all dates listed
on their Facebook page). And let’s be honest: Though we’ve grown up in many ways, we’ll never stop wanting to play with paper dolls. That, and makeup.
