LOOKBOOK: PAUL & JOE SISTER
The French label has a Cute Overload moment.
-
There’s nothing new about using cute animals to sell products.
Carrie Underwood once posed with a pile of puppies to shill Skechers.
Forever 21 plastered the stylish face of Fifi Lapin on a range of tees.
Just this month, we paired a fluffy cat with a Jacobs by Marc Jacobs skateboard in the March issue.
But Paul & Joe Sister takes cute overload to the next level. The younger (and arguably cooler) branch of Sophie Albou’s fashion empire has always had a knack for turning something adorable into something awesome. The label’s fall ’10 collection is no different, with inspiration coming from both Bambi and the babes of Gossip Girl.
Think trousers with bows, preppy button-ups, and ruffled dresses covered in a wide-eyed doe print. For those looking to leave an impression, you can go with head-to-toe thermals covered with deer or a bright turquoise jacket; for something a bit more subdued, there’s a pleated schoolgirl skirt and a toggled cape.
And unlike the Disney movie, this is one story that is happy from start to finish.
