Designer Geren Lockhart held her Fall 2010 show in the basement of the Crosby Street Hotel, and once you saw the clothes, you understood why: With their demure ruffled hems, bleeding Bonnie and Clyde colors, and cropped '20s hair, the new collection will look right at home in a speakeasy.
That's not to say there aren't modern touches. A ribbed corset
a la Proenza Schouler and a
lot of stretched, stitched, and treated gray leather and silk leant the show some tough-girl grit, as did the drinks menu: straight potato vodka and grapefruit juice, which was equal parts farm girl and big city bohemian - kind of like this kinked and charming show.
