I don’t do sexy.
Quirky? Sure.
Smart? Yup.
Goofy? All the time.
But seductive? Not something I exude. Which meant that I was the perfect guinea pig to test out Lavanila Laboratories’ new Vanilla Passion Fruit perfume, which isn’t just 100-percent natural—it also promises aphrodisiac powers.
Before heading out on Friday night, I spritzed on a bit of the fragrance. Almost immediately, I was feeling good—although it probably had less to do with the Blue Lotus, Juniper Berry, and Clary Sage that make up the so-called love potion and more to do with the fact that the perfume smells like crème brulee.
I set out to the movies to test it on other people. The good news: The guy sitting next to me at the movie theater kept grabbing my arm. The bad news: It might have been because we were at a midnight showing of
Jurassic Park. (Sidenote: That movie is way scarier than I remembered.)
Otherwise, there were no
Love Potion No. 9 moments; I didn’t get an absurd number of free drinks, I wasn’t allowed to cut the line at the concession stand, and I definitely wasn’t offered a gratis cab ride home at the end of the night.
But while Lavanila hasn’t figured out a way to change personalities, they did come up with a new fragrance that smells pretty damn good. And that’s something I can fall for.
