A CLOSE SHAVE

A CLOSE SHAVE

Our first ever "As Seen on TV" smackdown!

We weren't the only ones captivated by The Shavemate, a combination razor-and-cream that dispensed foam in the shower.

After reading our review of the product, the vixens at Gilette Venus issued their own challenge: Try our two-in-one razor, called the Venus Spa Breeze, and see what you think.  After a week of shower time with the product, here's our take:

Look:  Our legs look great after shaving.

Feel:  Once you adjust to shaving your legs with a slightly bigger blade, the Venus Spa Breeze is rather amazing.  We got the same moisturized feel as we would have with thick shaving cream, without applying anything else to our body.

Value: The Venus Spa Breeze sells for $9.99 apiece at Walmart - not terrible when you consider that if you buy this razor, or its refill cartridges, you won't need to buy shaving cream at all.

The Winner: It's a close call, but we have to give it to the Venus Spa Breeze.  While the Shavemate is a great razor, and a third of the price, it doesn't fulfill the two-in-one promise with quite the same "OMG!" brilliance as the other one.

Yes, I use venus breeze... But... What about after you use it two or three times?? The little soapy thingies that are attached on either side of the razor fall off really easily, and you eventually have to go back to using shaving cream. Although, the soapy thingies are nice the first few times.

WASP is right! The soapy things fall off after a couple showers, which is a shame because they help give me a great shave. I always try to press the soap back on but it's no use. It's gotta be all the water loosening them, so I'm gonna try dampening it, shaving, dampen, shave and not get it too wet so it lasts longer.
