But that wasn’t enough for Maureen Kelly, the founder and CEO of Tarte. This month, the beauty brand can finally boast that many of its products are vegan, too.
Twenty-five bestsellers, from their face primer to their lash enhancer, are now officially certified as animal-free. PETA, which also declared Tarte a cruelty-free company, has pretty stringent standards when it comes to calling a brand vegan, so you can shop for your favorite glosses and bronzers without any guilt.
Most comforting might be how easy it was for them to get the certification—formulas are the same as always, which goes to show that Tarte’s initial ethos proved sage. Only now, it’s a bit prettier in the eyes of animals and animal-lovers alike.
