To call Cass McCombs enigmatic is like saying the Pope's Catholic: From his oblique lyrics to his city-hopping habits (he has no hometown at the moment), the singer-songwriter is notorious for being hard to pin down.
But no matter, you inevitably become entranced in the gentle beauty of "Dreams-Come-True-Girl" or the moody hum of "What Isn't Nature" anyway.
Frequently compared by critics to Dylan himself, McCombs's quiet plotting has done him well:
Catacombs, his fourth album, is arguably his best to date.
