Chalk it up to talent, skill, or good old-fashioned charm, but Andrew Bird is one of the few musicians who can turn plucked violin strings, jaunty whistled notes, and gentle guitar strums into indie-rock gold. 

The Chicago native spent 2009 releasing not one, but two new records - the LP Noble Beast and the EP Fitz and the Dizzyspells - in which he explores the limits of baroque pop.  Those who find his music to be a religious experience are in luck, since Bird will play a series of shows set in church sanctuaries this winter.
