Some fashion designers have inspiration boards full of surfers, bikini babes, and ocean hues.  But for John Whitledge, that's just what's in his backyard.  The Trovata front man, who lives in Santa Monica, California, bases his collections on what his (female) friends want to wear, and the new season is no exception. 

Besides the shirt-dresses and massive Jackie O shades that have become staples in every modern girl's closet, John's made a run on maxi-skirts and dresses, resurrecting a billowing silhouette that we fondly remember from the grunge era.  The only problem?

Frolicking on the beach in a skirt that long might get you in trouble - especially when your friends inevitably drag you into the water!
