PUT A RING ON IT

Perfume comes out of the bottle and into your jewelry box.

Makeup baubles are nothing new - in the '80s, we all had Sweet Secrets charms that opened to reveal smooshy lipstick in bubble gum pink. 

Later there were Hard Candy rings that went with our nail polish, and Dior lip gloss lockets that matched our J'adore t-shirts.  We've also had a sneaking suspicion that the cap of Vera Wang's Princess scent - in the shape of a round tiara - is meant to be pulled off by teen fans and worn as a ring.

Now Sephora rolls out three new options for grown-ups, each with a signature style and scent.  For vamps and YSL devotees, there's Kat Von D's fragrance ring, an oversize flower in shiny black gunmetal that holds her signature smell.  If Anna Sui's signature black flower ring was on steroids, this would be it - goth glam girls and Balmainettes, climb on board.

Marc Jacobs takes things further into his magical world of trendy stuff with a new ring for his new fragrance, Lola.  Topped with a surreal-shaped flower in red, purple, and green, the ring comes full of Lola in a perfume solid, and perfectly matches Marc by Marc's most recent runway collection.  If you claim to be indie, but still care what Blake Lively wears on a red carpet, this bauble's for you.

Finally, there's an unexpected option from Michael Kors, better known for his oh-so-grown-up outfits than his small (but growing) beauty empire, fronted by the sporty American model Hilary Rhoda. 

He's introduced a Very Hollywood Ring that looks like every Marilyn's fantasy, with gold braided borders and a giant gemstone in the middle.  Slide it out, and get a whiff of Kors' new Very Hollywood fragrance inside.  It may be for mature audiences only, but you can still call it your own personal sweet secret.
