MY SHOES COST LESS THAN MY PHONE BILL

MY SHOES COST LESS THAN MY PHONE BILL

Fashion forward heels for $70. We die, bananas.

It's a common complaint from you (and yes, we really do read all your emails) that sometimes the clothes on the NYLON site are really, incredibly expensive.

We can't apologize for that - after all, quality and cost usually do go together, especially when someone like Marc Jacobs or Phillip Lim is involved.  But our eyes are wide open for good fashion deals, too, and here's the latest:

We found a pair of killer stilettos for $72 at OAK NYC.  You can buy them online, you can choose between royal blue and shiny black, and you can wear them with anything.

These heels are seriously runway worthy, and if they came with a $300 price tag, we wouldn't be surprised.  Lucky for all you "where are the awesome cheap clothes?!" emailers, they're even cheaper than Steve Maddens.

I dont think they're cheap at all. Considering it's not a well-recognized brand name.

those shoes just aren't doing it for me. i think it could be the tread on them that's just too reminiscent of combat boots. and no offense, $70 is still alot for most of us. just saying.

"Cheap"? Seriously? Someone's wayyy out of touch. I don't even like the look of them. The tread is interesting, but...no.

You're all crazy and weird. These shoes are great and $70 is shocking in a good way. Grow up.

Out of touch? YOU'RE out of touch if you think shoes cost less than 70!

Those shoes are cool. I like the bottoms because they look like you wouldn't slip on them, even in the rain.

I agree, these are ugly and not cheap. Why waste so much money on trendy shoes when you can find a classic pair either vintage or on sale for more than half the price?

Amber

Oh, and here are tons of great shoes for under $70: learntoread.etsy.com

1. ugly 2. def not cheap and 3. not worth it! I'd rather add another 30$ to that and get leather shoes. What are these made of...rubber and faux suede....ick.

Jess

I like the blue ones a lot. I think $70 is good for going-out shoes because you only wear them at night. I don't know why everyone else thinks they're expensive, maybe they only wear sneakers.

I don't get why people are hating. What's wrong with cheap cool shoes?

maisha

they do go with everything, and they're really cute, but i'm still not convinced to spend 70 dollars on them.

Quite like these shoes and nothing like we have in the UK. However I wouldn't be able to afford $70 heels to wear just going out. Still cool though!

elora

They look cool buck 70 bucks for them I think not. Whoever said cheap needs to look what cheap actually means because it is not 70 dollars.

Hey Elora. Why don't you go read trailer trash Seventeen magazine or something since your poor ass doesn't seem to understand Nylon. Christian Louboutin, $700+. Marc Jacobs, expensive $700+. These shoes? Cheap. That's high fashion for you. Learn something.

no.

10/28/2009

What a ridiculous comment above. HIGH FASHION = EXPENSIVE. THESE SHOES = NOT HIGH FASHION. THESE SHOES FOR $70 = NOT CHEAP. If I am going to get a pair of NON-DESIGNER heels I can go to Santee Alley in L.A. and get them for $20.

70$ IS cheap for shoes, you frugal fuckups, although i'm not feeling the tanktreads, they're still pretty runway worthy (read: edgy). i'd like to see them on feet, they're probably better in person

i think these heels are cute. but 70 dollars is a little overboard for those who are looking for cute shoes & have a budget. Many girls cannot afford shoes that expensive considering you would only use them in the night and not on a daily basis (:

They are pretty cool shoes. Would I wear them? No. Does $70 look like it would be on the price tag? Yes. I wouldn't be surprised to see these in a (Or the idea of the treaded heel) on the runways with the likes of Alexander McQueen or Nina Ricci. They are really different. But they aren't THAT appealing to argue over price. And for everyone attacking people who say they are "Too Expensive" there's no problem looking for cheap because it's practical. Not everyone lives in the streets of New York. Not every place in the world is so open-minded to clothing. And I appreciate High Fashion just as much as the rich people who actually have money to blow on those magical, amazing, detailed, and quality pieces, probably more. But everyone has a right to look good, no matter how much they spend. Hell, I've seen people who dress like they just left Paris Fashion Week spending only about $200 on their entire outfit. Don't hate on the cheap people. Blame the economy.

i mean, i think these shoes would look right on the right person/in the right context but $70 is a bit steep for me. Thats about where i max out for a new pair of shoes unless its like tall boots or something. shoes are my favorite thing to buy so im always looking for new deals on quality items. i know that $70 is super cheap compared to the stuff that does show up in the pages of nylon but still the price has to match the product and i dont think it does in this case. if you are looking for cheap shoes try myspringshoes.com or i really like shoesandyourmom.blogspot.com for deals on designer shoes.

Those shoes are ugly and still expensive. Ok? Im 12 I am subscribed to NYLON I love it but these are some of the biggest mistakes you make.

Jessica

If I'm going to pay 70 dollars (which I most likely would not) for a pair of high heels I would wear on a rare occasion, they had better be darn unique shoes, not something I've already seen before. It's a good start for Nylon featuring cheaper stuff than they usually do though. Irregular Choice shoes are amazing. Visit the website and see!

These shoes are awesome! But most people need 1.Confidence + little snobbiness 2.To live in a place where those shoes would not give people heart attacks. Those shoes are more Alexander Mcqueen or Hubert de Givenchy or maybe even Yves St Laurent so be glad their 70 bucks. Get em while they're there

Toni

the shoes are FIERCE!!! one must be fashionable and quite daring to pull these off. the price point is amazing as some other brands who would make something similar would cost an arm and a leg: LITERALLY!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!!!

What a ridiculous comment 10 comments above (thats you NO.) High fashion DOES NOT NESSECARILY EQUAL High prices you can create high fashion looks with anything its about how you put it together and how you wear it not how much you paid for it. Personally i think these shoes are really dope i love the spacey feel to them and for $70 they look like they are worth it in the comfort and quality stakes as well as the look, if i had plenty of money at my disposal i would happily pay alot more for them. And Dizz you're a gronk. The money one pays for clothes/shoes/furniture/whatever should be for the design and the quality NOT the brand name. Lame people like you all accross the world pay ridiculous amounts of money for ugly things just because they've got someones name/initial on them and they're like sooo now. Get your own brain! (Wow...essay!) Love from Australia :)

These would be awesome if I was a Space Hooker. I think the idea in the title is good...but is not delivered on. Can we maybe have shoes we can walk in for a few hours without pain and wear with more than one outfit?
