For years, we've been hearing the same story - everyone can wear a red lipstick, but your skin tone determines whether you want a blue / red or a yellow / red.
Now DuWop introduces Private Red, a lip color that claims to "adapt to each person's unique chemistry and adjust accordingly, providing the perfect red shade that compliments each person's coloring."
Sounds pretty magical, so we had to try it. We had three girls test the shade, with skin tones ranging from "Edward Cullen pale" to "Gisele on vacation bronze" and here's what we found:
The color appears exactly the same on everyone - nobody's got a scarlet red vs. a poppy red vs. an orange red. But the shade also looks gorgeous on everyone, and I managed to wear it through dinner, drinks, and two cups of tea last night before finally having to wash it off at 1 am because the red just wouldn't budge.
So is this a magical mood ring of a red lipstick? Uh, no. Is it a really solid bet for a red shade to wear all day and all night, and maybe reapply just once? Definitely. And there's some magic in that, too.
