Our new favorite music, times five.
The Like - "Fair Game"
Oh, NYLON reader, we know you like The Like. This is why we're tipping you off to a free official download from these L.A. ladies, who'll soon be on tour with the Arctic Monkeys. Imagine ’60s synths and a jaunty hook. Now pair that with lyrics that rhyme "incestuous" with "tempestuous." Curious!
Grooms - "Wicked Game"
It'd be pretty tough to screw up a cover of Chris Isaak's dreamy lament about tortured love. So Grooms play it reverentially: gently adorning the track with fuzzy, shoegazey guitars and (towards its conclusion) prodigious use of cymbals.
The Love Language - "Lalita"
This is throwback indie pop from a Raleigh, North Carolina, sixsome whose sound falls, amazingly, somewhere between early Strokes and Guided by Voices.
Madonna (featuring Lil Wayne) - "Revolver"
It was only a matter of time before Her Madgesty summoned omnipresent collaborator-guy Weezy for an Auto-Tune-tasic new track from her greatest hits album. And the hook goes something like this: "My love's a revolver/My sex is a killer/Do you want to die happy?" (Takes on a whole new meaning when you consider Wayne's fathered no less than two kids this year.…)
Egyptian Hip Hop - "Rad Pitt"
Egyptian Hip Hop are a group of cheeky white lads from Manchester who make indie rock and are apparently big fans of that dude who's dating Angelina Jolie. Their homage to the aforementioned actor packs an MGMT-lite vibe by sprinking floaty keyboards and guitars over pleasantly propulsive drums.
