If you want to turn your makeup routine green, it’s easy to find paraben-free eyeshadow, lead-free lipstick, and chemical-free conditioner. But when it comes to getting long lashes, the options are limited to a few sub-par formulas, or sticking with your standby brand, no matter how scary the ingredients sound.
So you could say that Korres, the Greek beauty brand known for its natural products, struck oil when it developed its new mascara. Instead of relying on mineral oils, which can contain carcinogenic compounds, Korres realized that oil from a plant indigenous to the Mediterranean region was just as good at strengthening and lengthening lashes.
The resulting product, Abyssinia Oil mascara, is good by more than just green standards; the tube adds volume to lashes without clumping, and we went the whole day (and night) without having to wipe up under-eye debris. Best of all, our lashes stayed soft, smooth, and full, thanks to olive oil emulsifier, Bamboo extract, and Provitamin B5. And rather than just stick to basic black and brown, Korres is also releasing the mascara in cobalt blue and deep plum (although no
gray—at least, not yet).
Now this is an oil addiction we can believe in.
