The '80s infomercial favorite enters the 21st century.
It’s a testament to BluBlockers that they could become a cult sensation, despite an infomercial featuring a guy named Geek rapping about the sunglasses while wearing a sombrero.
But anyone around in the ‘80s can recall that, though the BluBlockers promised to “allow you to see sharper, clearer, and with less distortion,” they weren’t actually blue. Which makes the brand’s re-launch this summer, with a full line of bright-hued shades, a long-awaited addition.
The oversize aviators come in Kelly green, bubblegum pink, metallic gold, crisp white, and, of course, Kool Aid blue. Just like the originals, the shades block out blue light rays in addition to UV rays, which is how it gives you its trademark fuzz-free view of the world. Best of all, the prices have hardly gone up in the 23 years since BluBlockers first hit the airwaves; a pair will set you back just $38.
At that price, we don't even need an impromptu rap session to sell us on these shades.
