The Dashwood sisters find love, loss, and a giant talking squid.
Emma Thompson won an Oscar for her amazing adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, but now the British smartypants has some competition.
It comes in the form of a bizarro book called Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, which is basically what it sounds like:
Eleanor and Marianne Dashwood are well-born but poor sisters pining for inappropriate but sexy men. Eleanor is shy; Marianne is dramatic. They make witty but poignant observations about the mating game while doing ladylike things like needlepoint and sketching. Then they all get attacked by the Loch Ness monster, and must band together with their crushes to fight the deep sea invasion.
The book comes out in three weeks, but you can pre-order your copy starting today. And if you can't wait for a corset-and-petticoat horror show, pick up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - created by the same twisted / terrific team - at any book store. And if you want to get pumped, watch the book trailer from Quirk Books below, just watch out for the giant squid.
