In fashion movies, all the editors smoke. But in our office it's different: We're not all nicotine fiends, but our universal vice is soda.
We know it's not healthy. We know it's not chic. But somehow, come 2 pm, everyone's desk gets dotted by a bright aluminum can of ambrosia.
That all changed yesterday, when a box of bottles arrived bearing a new name: Pepsi Natural. The label lists the main ingredients as water, sugar, apple juice, kola nut extract, and caffeine.
Am export from Whole Foods? Not quite. But when most soda cans read like your 10th grade chemistry exam, it was refreshing to see stuff we could actually identify. And most of the office enjoyed the taste, described as "nutty, with a little bit of coffee" (Lina) or "sweet, but not sugary" (Kelly).
We're also suckers for the packaging, a plain glass bottle that's easy to recycle and also a bit old-school - much like the idea that your soda ingredients don't have to be made in a science lab.
