New songs for a brand new day, by music director Krissi Murison.
An Experiment On A Bird In The Air Pump – Smear
myspace.com/anexperimentonabirdintheairpump
Impress your friends when rocking out to London’s new (and female) Jesus and Mary Chain with this fact: The original Experiment On A Bird In The Air Pump was, in fact, an oil painting which Joseph Wright of Derby created as part of a series of candlelit scenes in the 1760s. It was later a Broadway play by Shelagh Stevenson about science and responsibility. Thrilling stuff.
Major Lazer – Hold The Line
myspace.com/majorlazer
Some say this track is the work of production dream-team Diplo and Switch, with guest stints from friends Santigold and Mr Lexxx. However, those in the know will tell you that Major Lazer is actually a Jamaican commando who lost his arm in the secret Zombie War of 1984. He was rescued by the US military, who sewed him back into shape using experimental lasers as a prosthetic limb.
SCUM - Warsaw

These London synth-gothers are currently on a sonic journey around the world, writing and creating a new piece of music inspired by their surroundings in every city they visit. "Warsaw" is our favorite, although we have a lot of love for "Venice" too.
PonyTail – Celebrate The Body Electric
www.myspace.com/ponytailtunes
Ponytail was a front-runner in a recent Saturday night/ Sunday morning convo about band names so great, you can’t believe someone didn’t think of them sooner. Gay For Johnny Depp actually won it (I mean, who isn’t?), but these psychedelic Baltimore freaks should have got bonus points for also taking the time to make sure they sounded good too.
Howling Bells – Cities Burning Down

Regret of the week: Not making it to Brooklyn last night in time to catch these sultry Australians on a break from their current US tour with Coldplay. We’ve been consoling ourselves by watching them as an outlaw biker gang in this haaawt new vid.
