ONE NATION UNDER CLOG

ONE NATION UNDER CLOG

A Swedish import that will turn you into a dancing queen.

Swedish Hasbeens isn’t kidding about the castaway thing.

Back in 2006, a group of fine Swedes stumbled upon 300 pairs of clogs from the ‘70s gathering dust in the basement of a clog factory. It inspired them to re-think the clog—a traditional form of footwear to some, a means of dancing to others, and a way to show off your hippie-disco side to anyone who grew up listening to ABBA—and turn the has-been into a must-have via shoe company Swedish Hasbeen.

The result is a collection of wooden-sole shoes that look as cool as they are comfortable. And now that they ship all over the world—the US included—you can get this Swedish import delivered right to your door.

Among the standouts are the primary color “Covered High” clogs, the metallic “Braided Low” clogs, and the “Slip In Super High” clogs, which Bianca Jagger definitely would have worn to Studio 54. There are also some bright-hued shoulder bags and overnighters that are equal parts earth mother and dancing queen, but it’s really the shoes that have us clicking our heels together.

So go ahead, call us has-beens; we’ll take it as a compliment.

I def. do not enjoy these clogs. They remind me of something the girls from clueless would've worn in the 90's. Not something I could see people rocking today. Girls, stick to the high heels!

I think it's a fabulous idea- until someone does it a disjustice. The burgundy ones in the picture have got to go- those type are too old and looks horrible on the feet- otherwise, concur clogs!

hello... these shoes are aweosome and totally comfortable. really more like the vintage 70's stuff that is coming back and not 90's style. they will look awesome withe the smocked mini dresses everyone is sporting. so yes they are cute!

megan

05/05/2009

Oh no no no. Please, put them away. It took me the first sixteen years of my life to convince my mother to stop buying me clogs. Don't give her another reason to shove them back on my twenty-year-old toes!

05/06/2009

Those look really ugly on! They'd be alot better if they were higher, had a wedge heel, and the toe part was shorter/smaller. Yiiiikes. Looks like a disaster.

Samm

05/06/2009

NO THANK YOU. Just NO. Hideous isn't a strong enough word. Am I getting my point across?

allison

Lisa

05/06/2009

the original Hannah Anderson ones were great.. i had a pair a few years ago. sadly, they don't have funky colors anymore. and actually, wooden clogs are quite comfortable! you just have to learn how to walk in them... that is all.. i think they are kind of cute, but a bit gawdy and awkward looking simultaneously. it'll be interesting to see where this goes...

LULU

05/06/2009

Those are way too blocky, the kind of shoes girls should avoid because it will make their legs look disgusting. Noooo times two million. Let's leave clogs to the milkmaids.

eko

05/07/2009

ickkkk no. im not all against chunky but these look blocky and bulk. I dont think this would work with very much and i think only a very few people could actually pull it off

coco

05/07/2009

BALIN

05/07/2009

they aren't that bad, meanies. everything comes back around in fashion, even clogs. they're kind of cute depending on what they're paired with.

nikole

05/07/2009

i think they'd be ok with the right outfit, but i'm scared to see middle-aged women starting to wear them. that'd just turn me off.

CECILIA

05/08/2009

They r fabulous! In a world of spring bandels how can you not find these precious? Can be worn with anything slim or boot-cut pant; mini or maxi dress. Who could ask for anything more?

kate

I love mine since they are really comfortable, sustainable, colorful and just look great with my tanned feet. I will never wear crappy quality plastic mules. Welcome to the new generation of shoes. Wake up and smell the chrome-free leather!

Karla

I love clogs! bought my first pair two years ago. the first time I wore them I also wore my flaired jeans and a vintage tshirt with the pepsi logo on it. I received compliments on my ensemble all day.
