Better late than never could be Geren Lockhart’s motto.
After twelve years working in advertising, the New York-raised designer realized it just wasn’t for her. But the ad world’s loss became the fashion world’s gain when she decided to return to her style roots and launch her own label, Geren Ford.
Years later and Geren Ford’s fall ’09 collection proves that Lockhart made the right decision.
The collection is equal parts seductress and enchantress; romantic ruffled blouses are paired with sleek leather skirts, Art Deco-inspired cocktail dresses are layered over comfy long-sleeve tees, and a basic shift dress gets a sultry upgrade with provocatively-placed zippers.
Because you can’t always ditch your day job (at least, not yet), Geren Ford’s fall collection also features plenty of day-to-night pieces that look as good in the morning when you’re getting coffee as they do at night when you’re getting an Old Fashioned.
Although be warned—put on one of Lockhart’s leather ruched dresses or high-waist pants and you just might get the nerve to drop everything and finally start that photo studio/restaurant/boutique.
