Beauty brands always advertise that their mascaras will make your lashes look longer, thicker, and fuller. But now, there’s a new crop of wands that they promise will actually make your lashes grow.
It’s a claim that we had trouble taking seriously; like cookies that are supposed to make you skinnier and vitamins that promise to make you smarter, the idea of lash fertilizer sounded dubious at best, and dangerous at worst.
Which didn’t stop us from becoming beauty guinea pigs. So in the name of science—and potential Minnie Mouse eyes—we tested out three new mascaras. The results? Totally eye-opening.
LASH FOOD
"The good news is the "all natural" lash activator didn't hurt my eyes or skin, it just felt like cold water when applied. The bad news is it also worked like cold water - I didn't see any difference in the look or feel of my lashes after two weeks of use." – FARAN KRENTCIL

“I’ve been battling eyelash split-ends (don’t laugh), so the fact that this mascara both conditions and repairs was a plus. The mix of proteins and amino acids seems to have done the trick – although you might want to stay away if you have trouble following instructions, since the mascara comes with a step-by-step explanation.” – REBECCA WILLA DAVIS

"Though I didn't see any growth in my lashes, I loved the way this mascara separated each lash to give the illusion of thicker, more glamorous eyes. The effect was very 'doll face.' Now I use it every day." – FK
