KATE TAKES COVER

KATE TAKES COVER

The Lemonheads have a new album, Kate Moss and Liv Tyler have a new job.

Band reunions are nearly as popular as jumpsuits these days.

Phish? Just came out of retirement.

Blur? About to go on tour.

Smashing Pumpkins? Heading into the studio.

So when we heard that The Lemonheads were putting out a new album—only their second after a decade-long hiatus—it didn’t seem that surprising.

Then we learned that it will feature the vocal contributions of Kate Moss and Liv Tyler and, well, things got a bit more interesting.

The album, Varshons, is a wide-ranging collection of covers; Evan Dando, Devon Ashley, and Vess Ruhtenburg tackle tracks from ‘70s punks Wire, garage rockers The Green Fuz, and even Leonard Cohen (on which Liv sings back-up). If you’re looking for Kate, skip ahead to track seven, where she coos over the band's rendition of Dutch electro-duo Arling & Cameron's “Dirty Robot”.

The band is about to play a string of shows in Australia—no word yet if their back-up vocalists will come along. Not to point any fingers, but after Topshop’s grand opening, we’re pretty sure Kate is free…

Bad idea. WTF is Evan thinking. I was a die hard Lemonheads fan in the early - late 90's, but I do not see myself paying any attention tot he new stuff. I'll stick w/ my old albums. Now, when Juliana Hatfield worked with them, that was epic!

I think we could be pleasantly surprised. Ive noticed that sometimes the collaborations that seem the whackiest turn out to be the most outstanding. I mean its music its open to everyone thats the amazing thing about it.

im down with KATE!

well we'll never know if we dont hear it, after all she did do a number with Primal Scream, and it sounded decent, so who knows?

Remember when she sang with Pete Doherty on that YouTube video? Really good.

The Kate Moss track is like nothing you've ever heard from The Lemonheads before. The inclusion of Liv Tyler shouldn't be that much of a surprise though, as she's already sung on a previous Evan Dando recording.

I'M SO EXCITED. Evan Dando was my numero uno crush 15 years ago! My big gay heart is stoked.
