The Lemonheads have a new album, Kate Moss and Liv Tyler have a new job.
Band reunions are nearly as popular as jumpsuits these days.
Phish? Just came out of retirement.
Blur? About to go on tour.
Smashing Pumpkins? Heading into the studio.
So when we heard that The Lemonheads were putting out a new album—only their second after a decade-long hiatus—it didn’t seem that surprising.
Then we learned that it will feature the vocal contributions of Kate Moss and Liv Tyler and, well, things got a bit more interesting.
The album, Varshons, is a wide-ranging collection of covers; Evan Dando, Devon Ashley, and Vess Ruhtenburg tackle tracks from ‘70s punks Wire, garage rockers The Green Fuz, and even Leonard Cohen (on which Liv sings back-up). If you’re looking for Kate, skip ahead to track seven, where she coos over the band's rendition of Dutch electro-duo Arling & Cameron's “Dirty Robot”.
The band is about to play a string of shows in Australia—no word yet if their back-up vocalists will come along. Not to point any fingers, but after Topshop’s grand opening, we’re pretty sure Kate is free…
