FIRST LOOK: CELINE FALL '09
Wherefore art thou, Phoebe Philo?
Blair has Serena, Paris has Nicole, and Stella McCartney has Phoebe Philo, the designer she met in fashion school and trained to replace her at the helm of Chloe. And wow, did she make Chloe good. White eyelit mini-dress good. Giant wooden wedges good. Flower-nymph meets rock-star good. Getting-worshiped-by-Kate-Moss good.
But then Phoebe Philo went away, and fashion girls everywhere were sad - until last year, when Phoebe Philo resurfaced as the creative director at Celine.
The only problem? She still hasn't shown a collection there. Instead, when Celine released it's Fall '09 range this week, they said it was simply created by "their designers."
So we may not know the face behind the seams, but we do know this: They're really good. For Fall, Celine's got a ribbed biker jacket. leather pants the same color as their boots, chunky plaid trenches, and a seriously Crayola cape.
If it's this fun to watch before Phoebe, imagine what happens in June, when her first clothes actually appear?
