LOOKBOOK: MARIMEKKO
The Swedest thing in your closet. Okay, really, it's from Finland.
It's rare for a designer to evoke childhood but still make you look adult. Betsey Johnson pulls it out sometimes (when there's no taffeta involved). Jeremy Scott walks the fine line every season. And then there's Marimekko.
The only label that made your childhood sleeping bag and your favorite dress, the Finnish brand relaunched its ready-to-wear collection last year in America - the last time it was available stateside, it coincided with 1969's Summer of Love.
The current offering has the graphic appeal of Diane Von Fursternberg's modern woman, with the easy go-ahead-and-run cut of Built By Wendy or Charlotte Ronson.
And for those who email that "everything is only in New York" (like you, Janna K), cheer up - there are Marimekko stores in Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco.
Also, as always: online
