Fact: Global warming is real.
Fact: Our dependence on dirty energy isn’t helping.
Fact: You can do something about it.
Today marks the first day of
Power Shift ’09, a four-day gathering in Washington D.C. of people who want to bring change to the way America approaches its energy policy.
Unlike most big lobbying pushes, this one’s made up entirely of young people—10,000, to be precise. They’ll meet with legislators, demonstrate on Capitol Hill, and organize with one another, so that at the end of the event they can bring home a coherent game plan.
There will even be some eco-friendly partying happening. Santigold, The So So Glos, The Roots, and a slew of other bands will all be performing with the help of
Green Owl, an environmentally sustainable record label.
The big question isn’t whether or not Power Shift will make a statement; rather, it’s whether or not you’ll be a part of it. We’ll make it easy for you: Just go!
