An art show that's just as good as touring with your favorite band.
The dream might be touring, traveling, and hanging out with your favorite musicians, but the reality is that life gets in the way.
Unless, that is, you’re Lauren Dukoff. The photographer made a name for herself shooting some of the biggest names in music—but in the process, she also managed to befriend many of them. The resulting relationships are the focus of Family, an exhibit of photos on view starting tomorrow at San Francisco’s Eleanor Harwood Gallery.
It’s Dukoff’s close friend Devendra Banhart who is most frequently in front of the lens, although her “family” extends to his musician friends, like Bat For Lashes, Joanna Newsom, Little Joy, and Vetiver. The photos, mostly candid shots capturing life on the road, backstage, and at home, make up most of Dukoff’s forthcoming book (coming out this summer).
So even if you can’t make it to San Francisco, you can bring a taste of the rock’n’roll life to your home—all without worrying about your space getting trashed.
REBECCA WILLA DAVIS
Family, February 20-March 7 at Eleanor Harwood Gallery, 1295 Alabama Street, San Francisco
