BY THE BOOK

BY THE BOOK

A luxury perfume inspired by librarians.

Parker Posey learned the Dewey Decimal System in Party Girl, and Carrie Bradshaw claimed the New York Public Library as her own (doomed) wedding cite in Sex and the City.

But aside from those two cases (and, okay, Marian in The Music Man...) the library isn't known as a hotbed of style.  But CB I Hate Perfume doesn't care.  The scent company responsible for making women smell like grass, apple cider, and lit candles now has Eau de Books, an essence promising to make you smell like studies.

You can buy it online for $60... about the same amount we owe in overdue book charges...

That's just silly. The smell of a book belongs... in a book! Although I wholeheartedly agree that we shouldn't be stuck with smelling like flowers and that we should branch out to unusual scents, this one I disagree with.

That's kind of weird...why would you want to smell like a book? I mean, some of them do smell good, but not all of them smell the same...we talkin' ancient story book? Smutty romance paperback? Used & reused textbook...?

I actually think bookstores smell wonderful (well there's some coffee-shop scent often mixed in)! But I don't really like perfume, and this is kind of strange and gimmicky for that price...

I think there are many scents worth exploring but this isn't one of them. It's also too expensive for something so weird.

Haha, this is oddly intriguing. I wish there was also a scent for magazine (don't act like you don't love the smell of a brand new Nylon!).

Wierd things dont always have to be cheap, or else.. they wouldnt be wierd, or RARE in that case. I think its fabulous. Why not smell like a new book? Its different, and its original!

I've actually known about this for quite some time. I've not gotten to smell it yet {probably never well, too broke} - but I think it is a goddamn brilliant idea. They have some amazing sounding scents.

If it smells like those old old books that have been on the shelves for longer than I've been alive, then yes. I want it. There is something homey about that scent. But...I wouldn't wear it on my body. I'd just spray it other places to feel at home.

i think this is a lovely idea to be honest. I mean it might kind of sound crazy/silly at first but... I would love to smell like a lovely book smell. I'd also love to be with someone who smelled like books as well!

Lol. That's so awesome. I'm an English major so I constantly have my face shoved in a book. I wonder how this perfume smells; not all books smell the same.
